Following the report shown on television and headed: Toronto – Homeopath life coach Jai Veer Etvaru, 57, charged by police, accused of sexually assorting clients. The following email was sent by Saroj Gandhi, President of the OHMA to the CP24 News Director and Editorial Team.

“Dear CP24 News Director and Editorial Team,

On behalf of the Ontario Homeopathic Medical Association (OHMA), we are writing to express our deep concern regarding your recent broadcast identifying an individual charged by police as a “Homeopath life coach.”

The reference to the accused as a “Homeopath” appears to be factually inaccurate. To the best of our knowledge, the individual is not a registered homeopath and is not licensed to practise the regulated profession of Homeopathy in Ontario.

The official Toronto Police Service media release does not identify the accused as a registered homeopath. Our review of the public register of the College of Homeopaths of Ontario indicates that he is not a member of the regulated profession. Accordingly, the broadcast’s characterization of him as a ‘homeopath’ appears inaccurate and misleading.

Homeopathy is a regulated health profession under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991, and the Homeopathy Act, 2007. Registered homeopaths in Ontario are accountable to professional standards, ethical obligations, and public oversight. Incorrectly attributing this profession to an individual who is not a member of the regulated profession unfairly harms the reputation of legitimate practitioners and risks misleading the public.

The OHMA respectfully requests that CP24:

  1. Verify the accused individual’s professional credentials.
  2. Remove or correct the reference to “Homeopath” in all broadcasts and online publications where it appears.
  3. If confirmed, issue a clarification acknowledging that the individual is not a registered homeopath.
  4. The public relies on trusted news organizations to provide accurate and responsible reporting. While the allegations themselves are a matter for the courts, incorrectly identifying a regulated healthcare profession unnecessarily associates an entire professional community with alleged criminal conduct.
  5. We trust that CP24 shares our commitment to journalistic accuracy and fairness and will take immediate steps to correct this error.

We would appreciate a response at your earliest convenience advising what corrective action will be taken.”
